Word of the Day #6: Mawkish

This is a really odd word in my opinion. It looks weird, it sounds weird and I don't think you could guess what it means.

Pronouced: Maw-Kish (adjective)

Meaning: sickly sentimentality, weakly emotional

Example sentences: 

1) The comment she made seemed mawkish.

2) He whispered mawkishly into my ear "Goodbye beloved."
